about
nēah is primarily a group of friends, who after working for 10+ years in industry together, felt the need to build their own path in the design and development space.
Founded by Joe, nēah was seen as an opportunity to deliver quality projects on a localised scale. And, crucially, an opportunity to remove barriers to design and development services and the perceived complication around delivering projects
nēah’s priority is to empower our clients no matter the scale of project. Ultimately, a project’s success is measured by our client’s satisfaction with our services and project outcome. nēah’s pragmatic and flexible approach to design and delivery helps us to achieve this.
Joe
nēah founderJoe has lived and worked in and around Bristol for 15 years and there aren’t many neighbourhoods in the city he hasn’t explored on foot or by bike. When he’s not obsessing over client’s plans Joe is either cycling in far flung places, surfing in Cornwall or hunting for Bristol’s best restaurant.
Professionally, his work at award winning practice Stonewood Design, where he was an associate before leaving to start nēah, included the delivery of high-end bespoke houses, housing schemes, schools and museums. This wide ranging experience means Joe has really been able to explore how architecture articulates a sense of place spatially, materially and through well crafted details in many different contexts.
Along side his work at Stonewood Design and to maintain a link to Bristol while working on more distant projects Joe has always maintained projects such as extensions, refurbishments, loft conversions and new build houses.
Alice
nēah consultant designer Alice lived, studied and worked in and around Bristol for 10 years before recently relocating to Cornwall. Now embedded in her rural coastal community Alice is embracing the change of pace and landscape.
Alice brings a thoughtful, design-led approach supported by broad experience, an ongoing artistic practice, and a deep appreciation for the natural world reflected in her love of surfing and sea swimming.
Alice’s broad experience came in-part during her time at Stonewood Design, working alongside Joe. Here, she delivered conservation projects, house refurbishments, housing schemes, museums and sports facilities.
